Pastor Jesse William "Bill" Carr died of natural causes on July 11, 2023, at the age of 95. He passed away peacefully at his home in Hickory, North Carolina, with his daughter by his side. He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Ann "Cookie" Carr of North Carolina, two grandchildren, Lorie Carney of North Carolina and Gary Hiller of Utah, six great-grandchildren Jonathan Fargey of Texas, DeAnna Hiller Parish of South Carolina, Nathaniel Fargey of North Carolina, Sarah Fargey of North Carolina, Wyatt Hiller of Utah and Abby Gaelle Hiller of Utah and three great-great grandchildren, Kaysen Fargey, Ryliee Fargey and Lainey Parish. J.W. was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria Frances Carr and his son, Thomas Dale Carr. Brother Carr, as he was known to many, was the only child born to Daryl and Myrtice Carr in Tampa on December 11, 1927. At age 16, he left school and joined the Merchant Marine, followed by service in the Navy. At 17, he married his love, Gloria, and built a life together, for nearly 60 years, before her passing in 2005.

In 1959, after being called into the ministry, he started Faith Baptist Church, of Seffner, where he led others to know the Lord, until he retired in 2018, at the age of 91. J.W. was an avid fisherman and golfer, but was happiest and most fulfilled serving those in the community he loved.

A celebration of his life and ministry will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11 o'clock with a private graveside ceremony, for immediate family only. The family will greet guests at 10 o'clock, prior to the ceremony.
