Leonard, Jeanne Maas. Born in Flushing NY May 2, 1932 and departed this world May 23, 2017 from Fishhawk Ranch, Lithia FL. Jeanne was the youngest child born to Frederick Otto Maas and Brigitta "Bea" Turkalis Maas in Jackson Heights, NY. Both her parents and brothers, Frederick (Marjorie) and George (Marion) pre-deceased her as well as her sister in law Marjorie. She attended Hunter College High School (taking the subway in to Manhattan), and received her Bachelor's Degree from the College at Marymount Manhattan and graduated in 3 years. After graduation, she pursued her career in Social Work in New York City. In 1957 she met her husband Gerard Leonard at the Republican Club and they married in 1959, living in Bayside and East Islip, NY. They had two children; Marguerite (McMahon) and Gerard. Jeanne stayed home to raise her children, heading back to the work force while the kids were in high school. She retired in 1991 as a Probation Investigator for Suffolk County NY. Following retirement, Jeanne and Jerry relocated to Edgewater FL, where they happily resided until 2015. Jeanne is survived by her husband Jerry, daughter Marguerite and husband Michael as well as son Jerry and his wife Lauren & three grandchildren: Emily McMahon, Matthew & Andrew Leonard. Also surviving her are her husband's family: Philip Leonard, Elizabeth (Bette) Leonard Hoare (Frank), Ann Leonard Quinlan (Brian), and sister in law Catherine as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her brother in law Joseph Leonard pre-deceased her. There will be a visitation on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Rd, Riverview, FL. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 12:00 pm at St. Stephen Catholic Church 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico, FL
