James "Jim" Scannell, 77 of Valrico, FL went to be in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on June 20, 2021. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (PopPop), brother, uncle and friend. Jim loved reading, smoking cigars, attending daily Mass, exercising and spending time with his family. He took pride in working hard, providing for his family, and being there for his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a generous, loving, humble person who never took himself too seriously. He always had a joke or funny comment to put a smile on everyone's face. He was a man of God, praying daily, spending time at Church and reading the word of God. He is deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Elizabeth Scannell and his wife of 49 years, Florence Scannell. Jim is survived by his loving family; son, James Scannell Jr., daughter, Cynthia Dorotich, brother, Francis Scannell and three grandchildren, Zachary, Grey and Owen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Jim at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Riverview, FL with inurnment to follow at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park, Riverview, FL
