In Loving Memory Of

James Franklin Philippus born January 16, 1932, in Tampa Florida, passed away peacefully at his home in Riverview Florida on September 29, 2024, at the age of 92.  Son of Louis Christian Philippus and Annie Pauline Leach Philippus, Father of four surviving daughters, Vicki Rayburg, Gayla McKone Noel, Pamela Philippus and Deborah Thomas, and one surviving son Ralph Slone. Preceded in death by two son's James Philippus, Jr and Robert Wayne Philippus and one daughter Littie Marie Watkins. Grandfather to 14 grandchildren, great-grandfather to 44 great-grandchildren and great-great grandfather to 28 great-great grandchildren.

Jimmy, as known by his friends, served in the Air Force for twenty years and retired at MacDill Air Force Base here in Tampa Florida. After his service to the military, he attended and graduated from Hillsborough Community College with a bachelor's degree in business which he applied to opening his own enterprise, B C Towing and Tire Service, which later he relinquished to his son to pursue a career for another 20 years with Westra Construction Company, pressure testing newly laid waterpipes. After retiring from the work force, he remained busy…and staying busy was what he did best!!  Working for hours outside raking, building, working on equipment, and running errands was his happy place.

Jimmy accepted Jesus Christ into his heart November 17, 2019, and is now resting in the arms of Jesus. Please come and celebrate his life with us on October 19th at First Baptist Church of East Bay located at 10102 Old Big Bend Road, Riverview 33578, at 10:00 a. m. Long time friend, Pastor Timothy Myers will officiate.
