Obituary

On February 14, 1952, the Lord blessed Ollie and Addie Montgomery with a beautiful baby boy who was named James Madison Montgomery.  Born in Monroe, Louisiana he was showered by love from a large family.  The family moved East to the state of Ohio and it was there that James experienced a warm, love-filled childhood.  He attended East Tech High School in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated in 1970.  While in high school, James developed a passion for sports and played both football and basketball.  With the guidance of his family, James found the Lord at an early age and attended Glenville Seven Day Adventist Church.  His religious teachings guided him to actively participate in religious activities in the church and the community.

James began his profession in the military and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. In addition to his honor as a Vietnam Veteran, James worked for many years in his preferred profession as a Cryogenic Technician with Tri-Gas and Linde in Florida and Facilities Director with Aecom and Honeywell while contracted in Afghanistan and Kuwait.  His work was his passion as he engaged in his talents.  James enjoyed God's gift of Life.  He cherished his family and spent time with them in home activities, travelling and engaging in events with friends.  James was an avid sportsman with a special love of Basketball throughout his childhood and adulthood.  Other activities he enjoyed included Dominoes, family games, swimming, beach activities, listening to jazz and appreciating the simple joys of family life.  James was blessed with a magnetic personality that radiated heartfelt love.  His kindness, humble spirit and humor can be remembered and cherished by all who touched his life. He was a man of a few words but let all who were part of his life know that his love and support were there if you needed.  He selflessly gave to all who needed their love and support.

On June 21, 2022, the Lord called James to the glorious Kingdom of Heaven.  It was time for James to go Home.  He will be greatly missed by
his loved ones and will live on in their hearts and memories.  James is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Addie Montgomery.  He leaves behind to cherish his memories with his beloved wife - Cathy Montgomery, Sisters – Helen Taylor, Yolanda Grace (John), Gracie Montgomery, and Margaret Montgomery, Brothers – Barrie Montgomery (Jameela), Terry Montgomery, and Freddie Montgomery (Helen), his loving Children - John Marcus Montgomery (Maria), Toumani Dalmida (Janice), Katherine Montgomery, Tyrone Montgomery (Jannine), Darrel Montgomery, Clinton Montgomery, and Raymond Calhoun (Karen), Grandchildren, an honored uncle, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and other family members.
