Cross, James W., 83, of Brandon, FL, passed away on April 15, 2019. James proudly served in the US Navy, retiring after over 30 years of unwavering dedicated service. He was an avid golfer, enthusiastic fisherman, and especially enjoyed the companionship of close friends and family while at home or abroad.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sandra; and granddaughter, Catherine. James is survived by his loving family:  sons Michael and James; daughter in laws Maria Erlina and Abigail; and grandchildren Elizabeth, Robert, Patrick, and Samantha. There will be a visitation on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview, FL. Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 10:30 am at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, FL. He will be laid to rest at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD on Friday, 26 April at 10:00am.  In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made to the United States Navy Memorial ( navymemorial.org ) in his honor.
