IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacqueline
Hilpl
October 28, 1937 – April 28, 2025
Jacqueline McGinley Hilpl, 87, of Riverview Florida and longtime resident of Alexandria Bay, NY, joined the Lord for her eternal life this week. She was the daughter of the late John McGinley and Elizabeth (Nolan) McGinley where she grew up in Philadelphia, Pa. Her mother died when she was three and was raised by her father as a single parent. She spent a lot of her childhood life living with her relatives (Aunts) who were able to provide while her father worked. Even though she needed to be shuffled around a little and life wasn't always easy, she always said that her father spoiled her with love! She returned the love to her father when she brought him up to live with them until he passed. She married John Hilpl at twenty years old and gave birth to eight children, not bad for being raised as an only child by a single parent. Jackie always provided a home full of love, laughter and pets! She and John would take the children on camping trips for summer vacations, wanting them to get to know and enjoy the great outdoors. She was always up for an adventure which eventually brought them to Alexandra Bay, NY in the Thousand Islands in 1975. They purchased an eighteen-acre property complete with a couple of rental homes, a barn, two ponies, ducks and a dock with access to the St Lawrance River. They quickly adapted to life on the River and made their way into the Real Estate business specializing in Island properties. She once had one of the Forbes call her and said they were on their yacht coming down the River and would pick her up by helicopter to tour Dark Island (Singer Castle), one of her listings. This is just one of the many crazy stories and experiences she had selling Island properties. Her clients loved her as she was very engaging and had the interest of both parties involved. Her sincerity with her clients made many long-lasting friendships. No matter where she was people were quickly drawn to her by her kindness and gentle easy-going demeaner.
Her daughter Karen was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in her early twenties. Jackie was always there to encourage and help her. She would spend many years going to Arizona to help Karen battle her MS and help her husband raise their son Brennan. Eventually the condition worsened to the point where Karen would become bedridden and required a nursing home (Mi Casa) in Mesa, Az. Jackie spent many nights and days caring for Karen at her beside and as her advocate making sure she had the best of care. Karen went on to join the Lord in February of 2012. Jackie, like everywhere she went, had a large extended family at Mi Casa and they all loved her along with Karen. With all this to be concerned with, Jackie still made time to visit her other children, her eighteen grandchildren and all the others who loved her and called her Grammy. No matter where Jackie was, she always made sure they got a card or little gift for their birthday and Christmas. She developed and nurtured these relationships over the years of visiting and staying with her grandchildren. She knew their likes and dislikes and always had an open ear to listen. She loved to read her Bible in her room at night at the end of a long and busy day. You never had any doubts about where she drew her strength from. We are all so grateful to have had her on this earth and to call her Mom and Grammy. She showed us by example how to live our lives and how to be grateful for the things that matter most, family, friends and the Lord. We will all miss her but find peace knowing she is in heaven with Karen, her Mom and Dad, and many relatives and friends who've gone before her!
She is survived by her husband John Hilpl of the VA CRC, Syracuse, NY. She is also survived and will be sorely missed by her children; Kevin (Barb) Hilpl of Clearwater, FL, Keith (Lisa) Hilpl of St Petersburg, FL, Ken (Jackie) Hilpl of Palm Harbor, FL, Chris Hilpl of Dexter, NY, Kathy (David) Blum of Riverview, FL, John Davidson of Phoenix, AZ, Sean (Laura) of Cadyville, NY, and Kim Hilpl of Cranford, NJ.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Christopher (Jennifer) Hilpl, Amanda (Gunther) Flinn, Megan Hilpl, Lauren (Stephen) Miller, Ryan (Katie) Hilpl, Zoe (Cody) Lister, Ian (Kaitlyn) Hilpl, Grace Hilpl, Bridget and Sophie Hilpl, Sebastian (Sarah) Hilpl, Joseph Blum, Jessica (Taylor) Parker, Marie (Brad) Phillips, Rebekah (Timmy) Leger, Brennan Davidson, Jake and Dan Kessler, and fourteen great grandchildren along with many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
