Jacob Daniel Fowler, 22, of Riverview, Florida, went home to be with Jesus on June 27, 2011. Anyone who knew Jacob for even a few minutes could testify to how truly special he was. A graduate of the University of South Florida, Jacob was currently studying to be a doctor at LECOM Bradenton and was eager to begin serving people in his hospital rotations beginning in July. He would have become Jacob Fowler, D.O. in two years at the age of only 24, but would have never expected applause for his achievements. Instead he would have given praise and glory to God, which he told everyone was the sole purpose for his life here on earth. Jacob was heavily involved in the youth ministry and music ministry at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, playing bass each week for worship services and teaching seventh grade boys in his Sunday morning Bible Fellowship class. Close friends of Jacob, or Jake, would attest to him giving every word he spoke careful thought and sometimes being very direct but always honest. He was a lover of camping, big words, classic literature, truth, great sermons, black gospel music, obscure facts, fixing anything electronic, and playing the bass, drums, and other instruments. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. He was an unflinchingly devoted husband, grateful son, loving brother, faithful friend, wise counselor, and truly one of a kind. He is survived by his loving wife Diana Rivera Fowler, parents Bill and Patty Fowler, Kevin and Beverly Rivera, brothers Matthew and Zachary Fowler, sisters Jaime Fowler and Alyssa Rivera, as well as many more family members and close friends that cannot be counted. Words cannot express how much his company, humor, intelligence, wisdom, and straight-forward love will be missed, but his family is rejoicing that he is with the LORD Jehovah in a much better place than we can imagine. We cling to the cross of Christ and His righteousness despite our insufficiency, which Jacob preached with his words and his life. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 5:00 pm at Bell Shoals Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in the memory of Jacob Fowler to the "Bell Shoals Refuge Scholarship Fund."
