Matthews, Jacklyn M, 74, of Riverview, passed away on January 30, 2011. Jacklyn was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon. She enjoyed reading, travel and playing the piano. She retired from the Hillsborough County School District where she had served as the principal of the Burney Simmons Elementary School in Plant City and was the Elementary Supervisor of Language Arts. Jacklyn is survived by her loving family, husband of 49 years, Richard Ira Matthews, Sr.; son, Richard Ira Matthews, Jr. and his wife Leslie; sister, Darlene Lumsden and her husband James; and brother, Raymond Schalk. There will be a visitation on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. The funeral service for Jacklyn will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church of Brandon.
