FORD, Jewel "Lamar" of Tampa, died September 25, 2008. Lamar was born on October 30, 1921, in Bowling Green, FL and was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Earl Ford; brother, Gordon; and sister, Velma Ford Peterson.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Noemi Ford, of 40 years; son, Glen (Millie) Ford; daughter, Marbella (Robert) Marsh; grandchildren, Stephen (Cindy), April, Jay (Christine); great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Kirsten, Alyssa, Jacob and Austin; step-son, Steven Scott; brothers, Grady (June), Kenneth (Faye), Bobby (Judy), Gary (Cathy), Clyde (Angelina); sisters, Patricia (Fred) Gonzalez, Lorraine (Harold) Parker and Evelyn (Robert) Sanchez.
He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and served with the United States Coast Guard. Lamar was employed for many years with the American Can Company.
He will always be remembered for his gentle and compassionate heart and the ability to always put others before himself.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle to many family members who will miss him greatly.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. A Celebration of Lamar's Life will follow at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery.
