LONG, Irby D., of Valrico, a loyal husband and father, passed into the arms of Jesus Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the age of 89. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Velma; son, Doug; and daughter, Tammy. He was blessed with 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A WWII Navy Veteran, he retired from Publix after 39 memorable years. Irby was a long time member and deacon of Bell Shoals Baptist Church and past board member for the Florida Baptist Children's Home. A funeral service to honor his life will take place 11:00am, Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Bell Shoals Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. A reception will follow the church services. Interment will follow reception at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family ask in lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations in Irby's memory to the Building Fund, Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Rd, Brandon, FL 33511.
