IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Howard James
Wiebeld
May 31, 1940 – September 24, 2022
Howard James Wiebeld, age 82, a long time resident of the Brandon area, passed away peacefully in his Brandon home Saturday, September 24,
2022. Howard was born on May 31, 1940, in Newark, New York to Howard Joseph and Hazel (Cole) Wiebeld. He graduated from Newark High School in 1958, enlisted in the Navy, serving at Pensacola Naval Air Station. After serving in the military, he earned his AS in technical engineering. Howard moved to Brandon in 1971 and worked for GTE as a telecommunications engineer for 32 years. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church since moving to Brandon 50 years ago.
After retiring, Howard enjoyed long drives, often to the nearest strawberry shortcake stand, or to Apollo Beach for smoked mullet, attending any of his grandchildren's many activities, and fellowshipping with his People of Praise Christian community. Howard never met a stranger and had the most interesting stories to share of his childhood in New York, his summers on Lake Ontario, his service in the military, his time in Kansas City, or training Misty, his faithful Australian shepherd. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors and his gentle and easygoing spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Lillian, his sister, Donna Bieber, his brother, Don Wiebeld, his two daughters, Kristen Seago
(William Seago) and Elizabeth Turner (James Turner), his stepsons, Rick Russo (Tanya Russo) and Nelson Russo (Kelli Russo), his 15 grandchildren,
and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Monday, October 3 at 11 am. Visitation will be immediately preceding the funeral beginning at 10:20.
