IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Howard William
Macneil Jr
January 4, 1948 – May 12, 2024
Howard William MacNeil, Jr., affectionately known as "Grandpa", age 76, peacefully passed away on May 12, 2024, after bravely battling Stage 4 Lung Cancer. He spent his final moments surrounded by loved ones at his home in Seffner, FL.
Born on January 4, 1948, in Peekskill, N.Y., Howard was the oldest boy of seven children. He was a natural jokester who loved making people laugh and never took life too seriously. Despite his illness, Howard's quirky sense of humor continued to brighten the lives of those around him until the end.
Howard proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he developed a strong sense of duty and patriotism. He moved to Tampa, FL., in 1974, and enjoyed a fulfilling career in the maintenance industry. Howard was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to fix anything, making him the go-to person for DIY projects.
A diehard Buccaneers fan, Howard cherished Sundays filled with football and friendly banter with friends and family. He also found joy in the simple pleasures of fishing, gardening, and spending time outdoors, connecting with nature and finding tranquility in its beauty.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 48 3⁄4 years, Linda R. MacNeil, his children Ross MacNeil, Richard E. MacNeil, and Karen L. MacNeil, as well as his cherished grandchildren Connor, Mallorie, Cameron, Savannah, Nathan, and Ashley.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Howard's life will be held on June 21, 2024, from 12pm-2:30pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview, Florida.
Howard William MacNeil Jr. will be remembered as a man of honor, integrity, dedication, and humor. His legacy of laughter, love, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Grandpa. Your memory will forever inspire us, and you will be deeply missed.
