Hermi
Herrick
March 14, 1932 — July 24, 2026
It is with great sadness we announce that our beloved mother passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Seffner, Fl on July 24, 2026.
A native of Tampa, Hermi was very proud of her Spanish and Cuban heritage. Hermi graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1950 and remained deeply committed to her Alma mater as an active member that spanned over 75 years-a testament to her loyalty and the lasting impression she made on everyone she met.
Hermi married the love of her life, Robert (BOBBY) Herrick Jr, and together they built a life on faith, hard work and family. They raised 6 children in Forest Hills who were the pride and joy of her life. Hermi was an involved member of MOST HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH where all her children attended school. As a busy stay at home mom she still found time for bowling, where her scores made the newspapers several times, volleyball, and coaching the girls softball team at MHR. Hermi prided herself being a tomboy growing up and it definitely showed.
In 1980, after the children were older Hermi and Robert Built a homestead on a 20+ acre tract of land and became founding members of St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church.
Hermi loved country life and her favorite things to do was cutting their beautiful lawn on her riding lawn mower, forking the hay seated high up on the tractor and helping Bobby train his racing pigeons .
Hermi knew how to celebrate life and loved music, dancing and playing the bongos for everyone’s birthdays.Gatherings at her house were always filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable memories.
Hermi was also an avid Tampa Bay Rays fan. She rarely missed a game. She loved to cheer on her team with family and friends.
After Bobby’s passing Hermi continued her life traveling with lifelong friends, spending time with family and her grandchildren and going to Northdale every week for line dancing, fellowship with friends and joining the band as the drummer where they entertained at nursing homes.
Hermi was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bobby) Herrick and daughter Debbie Herrick Haggerty. Survived by her children Donna Barbas and husband Rex, David (Drew) Herrick, Darlene Herrick, Robert Herrick and wife Kim,
Douglas Herrick, grandchildren Jack Michael Mewhirter and wife Kiana and Douglas Herrick
A funeral mass and celebration of life will be held @ St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on August 8, 2026 at 11am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Hermi’s honor to Hillsborough High School /Positive Park. Mail to Att: Janice Voight/ Positive Park. 5000 N Central Ave, Tampa, Fl 33603 for Hermi Lopez Herrick
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to St. Joseph Hospital Tower 7 led by Story Southworth’s team, Candace and Alexis from Hospice and Savitta Ford, her home care nurse. These people all showed extraordinary compassion and care that we will never forget.
