Obituary

Shimer, Herbert D., 84, of Sun City Center, Florida passed away on February 5, 2013. He was born on June 28, 1928 in Munday, West Virginia to the late L. H. "Harley" and Louvisa (Fox) Shimer. Herbert received a bachelor's degree from Glenville State College, where he played football and a master's degree from West Virginia University. He was employed as a teacher, coach and principal at Clay County High School, Clay, West Virginia, until his retirement in 1973. He then was employed as an administrator for Majestic Mining and Pioneer Construction located in Widen, West Virginia. Herbert is survived by three daughters; Stephanie (Bryan) Montgomery of Glenville, West Virginia; Stacey (Paul) Catherwood of Riverview, Florida; and Clorinda (Marsha) Reed of Charleston, West Virginia; brother; Donald (Pat) Shimer of Sun City West, Arizona; three sisters; Madeline Prather of Belpre, Ohio; Mavadelle Lieving of Walker, West Virginia and Barbara (Harold) Butcher of Sandusky, Ohio; two grandchildren;. Sean Hunt and Brittany Myers, one great grandchild Dakota Hunt, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald, a sister-in-law and two brother-in-laws. Services will take place in West Virginia at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Life Path Hospice 11150 North 53rd Street Temple Terrace, Florida 33617.
