Wright, Henry C., 86 years old of Riverview,
FL, passed away on Sat. Jan. 31st, 2009. Henry
was a loving husband of 66 years, a cherished
father, and an adored grandpa and great-grandpa.
He moved to Riverview in 1986 from Collinsville,
IL. after retiring from Norfolk Southern Railroad
where he worked as a locomotive engineer for 37 years.
Henry loved life, loved to cruise, loved to work
jigsaw puzzles, and loved his family. He proudly served
in Patton's Third Army, Yankee Division, 101st
Field Artillery from 1943-45 receiving the Bronze
Star and taking part in the Battle of the Bulge. He
was planning a trip in June to Luxemburg to
celebrate the 65th anniversary of the victory.
Henry served as Worthy Patron of OES in
Collinsville, IL and also participated in the
Desoto Chapter in Riverview. He is survived by
his wife, Abby; sons, Rick Wright of Riverview, FL
and Ron (Donna) Wright of Dow, IL; daughters, Judy
(Mike) Wall of Apollo Beach, FL and Janise Wright
of Apollo Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Rebecca
(Jim) Bazata of Omaha, NE; Bryan (Amy) Wright of
Godfrey, IL; and Allison Wright of Riverview, FL; and six great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Riverview First Baptist Church
8626 Hwy 301 South, Riverview, FL. A memorial
service will be held at the church on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 at 10:30 am with a military burial at the Sarasota VA National
Cemetery at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers the
family is requesting donations be sent to either LifePath
Hospice (www.lifepath-hospice.org) or the American
Cancer Society (www.cancer.org)
