IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry Santos
Jr.
October 17, 1942 – July 16, 2023
Henry Santos, Jr. passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023. He was born in Tampa, FL on October 17, 1942. Henry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was better known as "Lelo."
Henry graduated from Jefferson High School in 1961 and went on to work as a carpenter for five years. During that time, he perfected his skills and became a master carpenter. Soon after, Henry was recruited to play fastpitch softball with TECO's travel softball team. At TECO, he found his niche and worked his way up to supervisor. He retired from TECO after 37 years of service and continued to work at their Manatee Viewing center for another 13 years.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved the outdoors and spending time at his cabin in Georgia. In his free time, you could find him fixing something around the house, watching National Geographic or Animal Planet, and spending time with family and friends. He loved animals, country music, and the U.S.A. He loved solving problems and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Mary Santos, and his grandson, Stefan Tyska. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Linda Santos; his daughters Patricia Capitano (Jimmy) and Deborah Tyska (Casey); his grandchildren, Linette Bastidas (Vicente), Patrick Capitano (Ashley), James Capitano (Deborah), Brennan Tyska (Cheyenne), Dylan Tyska, and Peytan Tyska; his great-grandchildren, Juliana and Aundrea Bastidas and Stefan Tyska; and his sister, Triana Mascaro (Vinny). He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Private funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 20, 2023.
