Helen Zellers, 97 years old, passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Winter Haven on July 25, 2014. She was born in 1917 in Binghamton, N.Y. the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants. In 1936 she married the love of her life Tom Zellers who predeceased her in 1996. Helens love for little children was immeasurable. She babysat many and raised them like they were her own. Even in her late years she always reached out her hand to a child as they walked by, always wanting their hugs. She leaves behind her own three children, Kathy Burruss (Elmer) of Valrico FL, David Zellers (Sherry) of Winter Haven FL, and Glenn Zellers (Ann) of Chenango Forks NY, eight grandchildren, ten great children, and one great, great grandchild. Also left behind are two very special nieces Sally Carl (Roger) of Endwell NY and Audrey Cannon (Gary) of Clarksville FL. and a sister-in-law Mary Tchir of Johnson City NY. Thanks for always staying in touch with Mom all these years. A special thanks to a part of the family, Michele Lynch who we could always count on. Your visits and calls meant so much to Mom and she loved you very much. Helen Zellers was a resident of Stoneledge Manor in Thonotosassa FL for six years, and it was there that her personality began to flourish. She loved all of her friends, got involved with crafts and bingo and looked forward to the spectacular music and the church services. Thank you Stormie Thayer for all of your help and friendship towards Mom, you held a warm place in her heart. Mom, you led a great life and will be missed by so many people. You were the mom that every child should have had. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 1:00 pm for immediate family. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Tom, at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.
