Barnes, Hazel Fayrene 88 of Riverview passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Friday morning April 26, 2013. She was born at home in Gravel Hill, Arkansas July 15, 1924. She came to the Tampa Bay area with the love of her life, career Air Force Master Sergeant James Joseph, who passed away in 2003. She enjoyed a life full of art, literature and beauty while simultaneously a success in business. She was a prolific painter, published author, seamstress and at one time juggled a family, a chain of three Cut N' Curl beauty salons and a beauty and barber supply company. She had two children, Gerri Sandra who passed away in 1988 and is survived by her son James Douglas, wife Kim, grandson Mark and great grandchildren Bryson and Peyton. Hazel was one of six children, three boys and three girls born to John Clarence Hughes and Lanta Mae Vardell. She is survived by an older sister Myrtle Lee in Searcy Arkansas. A viewing will be held 10:00am TO 12:00pm at Serenity Meadows, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview and a Graveside service at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa at 12:30pm on Saturday May 4.
