Harold Thomas "Tommy" Smith, aged 76 of Lake Wales, Florida passed away on October 4, 2023, of health related illnesses from his service during the Vietnam War.
Tommy Smith was the oldest of three children born to Clifford and Josephine Smith in Tampa, Florida on August 31, 1947. He worked in the Marine Industry before retiring in 2013. He had a passion for helping people and he was able to do that throughout his life both privately and professionally.
As a young child, Tommy's family lived in Brandon on Falkenburg Road. After Tommy graduated from Brandon High School in 1965, he was drafted into the Army in 1966 and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War; he then went on to become one of the most sought-after and successful Marine Electricians in the industries of Tampa, New Orleans and Internationally with a career spanning over 60-years.
In 1964, Tommy met Sandra McRae, married in 1965, recently celebrating their 58th year anniversary and had two children, Robert and Donald. Through their years together as a couple, they enjoyed so many fond memories camping at Disney World, vacations in Longboat Key, travels to many places throughout the country but especially loved going to New Orleans and made many friends everywhere they went. He coached youth soccer for nine years and loved his players like they were his own and led them to championships numerous times.
Tommy was an avid foodie, he loved to cook especially Cajun cuisine, loved to dance, and together enjoyed going out and learning to line dance and two-step. Upon retirement they moved to Lake Kissimmee where he spent many a day out fishing on his boat with his sons, grandchildren, and the numerous friends he made at Camp Mack.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Smith née McRae, sons Robert (Renee) and Donald (Rosalie); he absolutely adored his four grandchildren: Christoper Ian, Jacob, Emily, and Aidan; three nephews, two nieces, many cousins, and Aunt Betty.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Josephine, brother Dennis, and sister Judy.
