Benson, Harold William (Bill), 71, of Riverview, passed away on December 5, 2008. He was born in Miami, FL and graduated from Edison High School in 1955. Bill served his country in the United States Marines Corp. He retired from the Coral Gables Fire Department after 27 years of service. He was predeceased by his parents, Jewel and Thad Benson and his brother, Lloyd. Bill is survived by his loving family, wife, Martha; sons, Bill Jr. and Bruce and his wife Nora; grandchildren, Emily and Gordon; and brother, Robert. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 13600, Tampa, FL 33681-3600.
