Gustavo Torres-Rodriguez, 89, born in Ibague, Colombia, went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2026. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Gustavo, along with his brother Alfonso, were raised first in Ibague, by their parents Ana Rosa and Alfonso Sr., before moving to Bogota, where he lived until he relocated to the United States in 1978. He held his Colombian roots very close to his heart and even after 48 years in the US he kept up with news, music, and the national futbol team from his native country. Futbol was his favorite sport (hewas following the World Cup at the time of his passing). He will be remembered as an easygoing, patient, even keeled, and jovial person who was always ready to lend a hand to those in need, and whoalways greeted everyone with a smile. He was above all a loving father and husband.
Gustavo is survived by his wife Margarita; son Gustavo Jr. and his wife Belinda and their childrenJonathan, Gabriela, Sandra Marcela and Tavy; son Jaime and his wife Luz Victoria and their sonAndrew Alexander; daughter Claudia Fernanda and her husband Walter and their children Walter Jr.,Thiago and Gian Matteo; daughter Diana and her husband Jason; grandsons Michael Anthony, Kevin Alexander and David Andrew; and brother Alfonso and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Juan Manuel.
A celebration of Gustavo’s life will be held at Serenity Meadows, in Riverview, FL, on Saturday, July 25th., at 11:00 am, followed by a repast at the Iglesia Bautista Fundamental, in Brandon, FL
