Obituary

Greg Raley (age 74)  was born to Charles and Alma Raley in Chicago, Ill, and grew up just outside of Chicago in Burbank. He graduated from Reavis High School back in 1966 and spent some time in college before meeting his wife, Angela Cattaneo, at his workplace.  After marriage, Greg and Angie moved to Pennsylvania, where he worked for his older brother Richard and served as a sergeant in the Pennsylvania National Guard.  Eventually, Raley's moved to Florida in 1975, where he started Raley Tropical Fish. Today, the company continues to wholesale and deliver tropical fish to pet stores in central Florida.  Greg was proud that the business survived him and continues to grow.

Greg was a lifelong Cubs fan, but also cheered for Notre Dame during the college football season and was an instant Buccaneers fan the moment the franchise was established in Tampa Bay.  When Greg was not at work, it was common to find him fishing both salt and freshwater fish. He also enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales.  He collected old cameras, coins, baseball cards, automobiles, and anything he thought might be of some value.  Greg also enjoyed relaxing at the beach with his family and made Florida his home for more than 45 years.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents, his older brother and sister, Richard Raley and Laquita Pucillo, a stillborn baby boy, and his son Maclane, who passed away from cancer in 2008.

Greg is survived by his wife Angie of 51 years, his son Mike (Joy) of Raleigh, NC, daughter Amy Hamilton (Mark) of Lago Vista, Texas, and Rich (Nikki) of Point Venture, Texas and daughter-in-law Yvonne Raley of Riverview, Fla. Greg is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his younger brother Jeff (Lana) of Sun City Center, Fla and well as many one nephew and many nieces.
Greg's celebration of life will be on January 20th, with visitation starting at 10:30 am followed by the funeral at 11:30 am at Serenity Meadows in Riverview, Fla.
