Gloria Elaine Williams was called home on July 20, 2023 at the Brandon Regional Hospital. Born on July 21st, 1950, Gloria was the daughter of Wilbur, Sr., and Annie Dantzler of Tallahassee, Florida. She had three siblings- Betty Fields, Aletha Ervin, and Wilbur Dantzler. Gloria received education in both Tallahassee, FL and also sought education in Germany, where she obtained an Associate's Degree. At 14, she met the love of her life - John Robert Williams. Gloria and John married on Feb 4th,1969 and have two children, John Jr & Michael Williams. Gloria and John celebrated 54 years of marriage this year.
On November 13th 1968, the couple embarked on a one-of-a-kind journey as John's dedication led him to serve in the United States Air Force. Throughout their time together in the Air Force, they traveled the globe, enjoying unique experiences and cultures. John served successfully in the United States Military, while Gloria held various positions and excelled as a devoted lover and nurturer to her family and those around her.
She also enjoyed a successful retirement from her position in the Federal Government. Gloria is survived by her loving husband, John Williams, sons John Jr. and Michael Williams, sister Aletha Ervin, brother Wilbur Dantzler, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many more family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Dantzler, Sr. and Annie McCray; sister, Betty Ward, aunts Julia McCray, Minnie Lee Pittman, Stozella Kilpatrick, and Johnnie Mae Burnett; uncles, Verdell McCray, Peter Kilpatrick, James Dantzler and Clifford Dantzler.
Gloria had a love for the Lord, cooking, family, traveling, and reading. Gloria will be remembered for her infectious smile, big heart, laughter, and loving nature. She never knew a stranger and made everyone around her feel special. She loved deeply and had a genuine desire to connect with and understand people. Gloria cherished her family and invested deeply in their lives. She was an active member at Rivers of Life Church Ministries and remained connected even through her battle with cancer. Her love for the Lord brings us peace, knowing she is with Him today and is no longer in pain. Gloria's family described her as "strong," "a wonderful grandmother," "the best cook," "stubborn", and "my pooh bear."
Gloria's Home Going Service will be held on August 2, 2023, at Rivers of Life Church Ministries, 301 Lakewood Dr in Brandon, Florida, at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest on August 4th at the Tallahassee National Cemetery at 1:00pm
