Glenda Virginia Martinez. Our beloved Glenda joined the Lord on May 28, 2011. Glenda was adored by her husband, David Martinez Lopez, and their children Jennifer T. Martinez, David A. and Kathia Martinez, and her spiritually adopted children, Eric Hilliard and Jeanette Honermann, among numerous other loving relatives in Guatemala and throughout the USA. She was our butterfly and her loving kindness for all will long be remembered and celebrated in each person she touched. She was passionate about children and was a spiritual, joyful grandmother to hundreds of children as the nursery coordinator at Westover Hills Assembly of God church. Her happiness stemmed from an unlimited sense of compassion for others which revealed an incredible ability to create small changes in the world that will no doubt impact countless lives in the aggregate. Glenda held the discouraged, helped raise the downtrodden, and poured love into the empty and she instilled the same sense of selflessness in her family. She was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, on October 22, 1949. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rolando and Laura Carolina Herrera Rodas. The celebration service for Glenda's beautiful life will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 5:30 PM at Westover Hills Assembly of God church, located at 9340 Westover Hills Blvd., San Antonio, Texas 78251 with service to conclude there. She always asked for brightly colored flowers during her life instead of after... and enjoyed many! As such, for friends who are so moved, we ask for donations to Westover Hills Assembly of God church's Children's Nursery in lieu of flowers and arrangements. The family would like to especially thank the Ocasio family, Richard and Donna Vazquez, and Molly Budinsky, among numerous others, for their loving support during our difficult times away from home in Tampa, Florida.
