IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gladys
Silva
May 29, 1946 – September 4, 2025
Mrs. Gladys Silva, age 79, of Humble, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, September 4, 2025, surrounded by love at her residence. She was born on May 29, 1946, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the late Otilio and Maria Hernandez.
Gladys was welcomed into Heaven by her beloved husband of 49 years, Ruben Silva; her son, David Silva; her brothers, Robert Hernandez and Otilio Hernandez, Jr.; and her sisters, Hayde Hernandez and Myrna Hernandez Hidalgo.
At the time of her passing, Gladys was a faithful member of El Tabernáculo Church in Houston, Texas. She was devoted first and foremost to her faith and family. While her most cherished role was that of a homemaker, she also worked for Merck Medco as a pharmacy technician, served as a restaurant cook, and cared for children through the State of New York. Gladys loved the Lord deeply — she spent many hours reading her Bible, praying for others, and encouraging everyone around her. She will be remembered as a woman of unwavering faith, kindness, and love.
Gladys leaves behind a legacy of love through her Brother Felix Hernandez and Sister Maria (Efrain) Mendoza. Her children: Ruben (Cheryl) Silva of Brandon, Florida; Dawn (Glenn) Wenzel of Humble, Texas; and Daniel Silva of Los Angeles, California. She was a proud grandmother to Ruben D. Silva, Tiffany Silva, Nicolas Silva, Derek Silva, Aaron Silva, Jaxson Silva, Selena Renteria, and Julian D. Silva, and a joyful great-grandmother to many. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and countless friends she considered family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Wholesome Community Ministries, 16110 US-301, Wimauma, Florida 33598, with Pastor Carlos Irizzary officiating. Interment will take place later at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park in Riverview, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wholesome Community Ministries (wholesomechurch.org) — a ministry Gladys loved and served while living in Florida — to the Alzheimer's Association, or to a charity or church of your choice.
Gladys will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her warm heart, and her steadfast faith in God. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
