Gilda F. Piernikowski, loving wife of John, mother of Karen, Diane, Susan (husband David Teslicko), and John (wife Kelly Pitchford), grandmother of 6, and step-grandmother of 3, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Gilda lived a long life of loving, caring, and serving others. In addition to raising her family, Gilda worked in various capacities for the Philadelphia Board of Education, Eberhard Faber Co., PNC, and Wells Fargo Bank. She faithfully stood by and is survived by her husband of 61 years as they moved from Philadelphia to several towns in Pennsylvania, and San Jose, CA before retiring near their daughters in Riverview, FL. Gilda was known as a fun-loving and charismatic person who made friends and was admired by all she encountered. Gilda was an avid Scrabble player who also enjoyed playing cards, handheld games, and bowling. She was a member of the Woman's Guild and also served as a volunteer for the Board of Elections. Her persistence, patience, and upbeat personality, especially as she persevered through much illness later in life, were an inspiration to all. Private services will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Life Path Hospice House, 3723 Upper Creek Dr., Ruskin, FL.
