Gerard Malachy Carolan, 61, of Apollo Beach, Florida, left this earth on March 20, 2026. Born on May 6, 1964 in Roscrea, County Tipperary, Ireland, he was adopted by his loving parents, Malachy and Catherine Carolan, who predeceased him. He was survived by his wife, Karla Carolan, his children Breanna Carolan Sheffield (Matthew), Shawn Carolan (Ashley), step-children, Michael E. Foote (Celina), Cassandra L. Briegel (Kevin), Beth M. Foote (Shawn), Brianna R. Bunning, and Kalee Bunning, and multiple grandchildren. He was also survived by his biological brother, Richard Spencer (Abigail) and biological sister, Charlotte Cole, plus several nieces and nephews. Gerard enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1983 and retired after 20 years of service. During his time in the Army, he was deployed over to the Middle East during the Gulf War. Gerard was a 100% service-connected disabled Veteran. He was employed by Stericyle for many years prior to his death. Gerard loved playing golf, and was an avid Jets, Mets, Lightning and Liverpool FC fan. He loved traveling the world and exploring new restaurants with his wife. He loved family get togethers.
His funeral will be held on March 28, 2026, with a viewing from 11 a.m. and service at 1:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home on Providence in Riverview, Florida.
