Obituary

Griffin, Gerald W. "Smokey", 72, of Seffner, passed away on September 13, 2010. Smokey was a loving husband, father and grandfather with a strong Christian faith, a friend to all. Smokey served in the Florida National Guard for 42 years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4, he also retired from Sherwin Williams. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dover and enjoyed fishing, singing and playing guitar. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph I. and Dewey S. Griffin; and sisters, Louise Simmons and Earlyne Tucker. Smokey is survived by his loving family, wife of 48 years, Delores Griffin; daughter, Melanie (Lazaro) Padron; son, Jeffrey W. (Melissa) Griffin; brother, Ronald I. (Ana) Griffin; grandchildren; Michelle (Adam) Foster, Alex Padron, Anthony Padron, Brianna Lukcic, Alexander Krueger and Caylee Griffin; nieces, Verna Worthington and Carol Adcock; and many other family members and friends. There will be a funeral service on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Dover, 3223 N. Gallagher Rd, Dover, FL, with a visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to LifePath Hospice www.lifepath-hospice.org
