In Loving Memory of Gary M Gerhard
July 5,1954 ~ February 13, 2025
With heavy heart we sadly announce the passing of Gary.
Gary lived a full life of adventure, hard work, and had a deep love for his family. A man of the sea and the sky, Gary found joy in fishing, traveling and scuba diving always seeking new experiences and the beauty of the world around him. He loved striking up conversations with people, he never met a stranger. And Lord knows he loved good food, especially raw oysters. He loved concerts and collecting the T-shirts from every concert he attended Pink Floyd was his favorite.
His work as a large crane operator helped shape the skyline of Tampa Bay, where he played a vital role in constructing many of the towering structures that now stand as a testament to his skill and dedication. Gary was a 20 plus year proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 487-District 925.
Gary is survived by his loving son Nicholas ( Kyreah ) Gerhard, his devoted Sisters : Laura ( Kenneth ) Sapp , Karen ( Robert ) Rust, Step Mother of 58 years Frankie Gerhard, of Texas, 4 beautiful Grandchildren , 4 precious great grandchildren, his loving nephew, and 2 beautiful nieces, and many cousins.
Gary is now reunited with his beloved Daughter Felicia Nicole Gerhard Carter who passed away in 2006 from a long battle with Leukemia, his mother Shirley Oliva, Father Paul Gerhard who all proceeded him in passing.
Gary's legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved him, the buildings he helped create, and in the endless stories of his adventurous spirit. His unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
Rest easy Gary. May the water always be calm, the fish always bite, and the sunsets be golden.
A celebration of Gary's life will be held later. If you care to share a memory, add a photo or just say hello we welcome you.
In lieu of any flowers please donate in Gary's honor to the National Humane Society as he loved all the animals.
