Obituary

TAYLOR, Gael, 51, loving mother, dedicated nurse, longtime Tampa resident, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2005. She is survived by her beloved children, a daughter, Chalice and son, Cameron, sister, Kathy Eason of Brooklyn, NY and mother, Rosemary Brantley of Fort Wayne, Ind. Gael began a long and distinguished career in nursing with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Indiana University, and a Master's in Nursing from Ball State University. She made many significant contributions to the nursing profession, most notably serving as an Associate Chief Nurse for Nursing Education at the Fort Wayne Veterans Administration Hospital, and more recently as a Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, the Florida Nurses Association and was a Site Reviewer for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Gael recently served on a national VA Task Force to recognize and reward highly specialized clinical expertise in direct patient care. As an excellent role model and nursing leader in education and clinical practice, she made a tremendous impact on patient care programs and professional nursing practice. The family will receive friends and colleagues at a memorial visitation on Friday, April 15, 2005, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Rd., Riverview. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions would be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or the Indiana University Alumni Association.
