Obituary

AuBuchon, Frederick O., died in his home in Valrico, Florida on November 24, 2014. After being in the hospital and under hospice care only for a short few days, he was blessed to arrive home in time to be surrounded by his six children and wife. He was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on June 28, 1931. Preceding him in death were: his parents, Wilford and Lucille AuBuchon, and brother Ronald. Surviving are brothers Leon and James. In 1959 he married Joan Cunningham. From this union were born four children, Suzanne AuBuchon (Terrence), Therese Wisoff (Marshall), Stephanie Miller (Frank), and Mark (Jennifer), seven grandchildren; Sean, Erin, Benjamin, Jeremy, Meghan, Hannah and Clare, all are surviving. In 1976 Fred married his college sweetheart, Kay Alfultis Myers of Allen Park Michigan and became stepdad to Kymberli Myers and Dayna Alkire-Barry (Mike) and five stepgrandchildren: Sarah, Brenna, Taylor, Corey and Connor, all surviving him. Fred's faith was Roman Catholic. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State College. After completion, he was immediately drafted into the U.S. Army. Throughout his education, he was much involved in sports, his very favorite was baseball. Following his love for the game, he played minor league baseball in the Kitty League in Kentucky and Tennesse, known for his homeruns, while serving at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was sought out by the Army baseball coach. Fred, of course, was delighted to play and was instrumental in the Army championship. After being discharged, Rawlings Sporting Goods Company became Fred's new family for 41 years. He climbed the ladder rapidly as top salesman for many years in NY, NJ and CT. During this time, he was honored to attend spring training each year in Florida, servicing the teams with all equipment. Another privilege for Fred was to be Rawlings' representative at Yankees Stadium to all the American League teams - oh, the stories he could tell! The family request in lieu of flowers, all donations be sent to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101. A memorial mass will be held at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, FL on November 29, 2014 at 11a.m. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in the AuBuchon family plot in Bonne Terre, Missouri. All his family and friends will miss him greatly; especially his kindness, laughter and beautiful smile.
