SMSGT Francis C. Pirog was born in Pszemysl, Poland, July 13, 1922. Was naturalized by virtue of his military service while with the 100 ^th Bomb Group, Thorpe Abbots, England, during WWII. He is survived by his wife Catherine L Pirog of 69 years and was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Pirog Waddell (Jon); surviving children are : Thomas J Pirog, Wassila, AK; Matthew/Maureen Pirog, Devine, TX; Jennie/Troy Shipman, Littleton, CO; Kathleen/Edward Suchora, Lithia, FL. Grandchildren: Justin and Colin Waddell; Colleen, Amanda, and Evan Pirog; Jack Suchora; and Robert and Kathryn Shipman. The family moved to Fort Myers, FL in August 1973. Francis was very active in civic and church activities. While living in Fort Myers he was employed by The Private Industry Council. In 2011 the family moved to Lithia, FL. A Memorial Mass will be said at St. Stephen Catholic Church, in Riverview, FL, on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 am, with cremated remains inurnment at Bay Pines National Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Mass memorials or donations to St. Stephen Catholic Church would be welcome.
