Frances Williams was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1945. She spent her early childhood years in Rockport, Texas with her younger sister Mary. They moved around quite a bit as her father worked on a dredge boat. Eventually, the family settled in Riverview, Florida where her father grew up.

Frances had a fruitful career in nursing, working oncology at Tampa General and switching to teaching medical sciences at the high school and undergraduate levels. She had a passion for teaching and, up to her last few years, she was teaching CPR to local medical professionals and other groups.

Frances loved to try different hobbies and activities. She tried macrame, sewing, bird-watching, and bonzai just to mention a few.

Frances was married for 16 years to Scott McVoy (dec). They had one daughter, Lauren McVoy, who is a physician. Other surviving relatives are two sisters, Mary Alice Zaleski and Tami Newsome, two nieces, Ashley Smith and Shawna Dudley and great-niece, Ellie Smith. Her parents, Daniel H and Anna Mae Williams preceded Frances in death.

There will be a memorial service held for Frances at 3:30 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home.
