Obituary

Pastor Florence D. Taylor, age of 82 was born November 25, 1939. She was born in Biloxi, Mississippi and passed away on July 24, 2022 in Wimauma, Florida. She spent most of her life in Riverview, Florida.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. Felson P. Washington, and Mrs. Florence C. Washington, her daughter Mrs. Evangeline Taylor-Williams, her son, Mr. Wayne P. Washington, four sisters, Mrs. Fannie Kelly, Mrs. Lillie Bellamy, Mrs. June Lucus, Ms. Glenn Clark, and grandson Mr. Antonio, Henderson. Pastor Taylor's Christian walk began over 40 years ago in Biloxi, MS where she taped a radio broadcast every Sunday morning for 2 years. Listeners called in for prayer and learned scripture to help them during difficult times. She loved people and any opportunity to tell them about the Lord, she did without hesitation. In 1989, Pastor Taylor joined her daughters in the Tampa Bay area and did not look back. Whether taking care of the elderly or looking after children, she continued to let God lead the way. Pastor Taylor started having church service in an open area on the side of the apartment building that she lived in. Residents came out for praise & worship, fellowship, bible study, and most importantly, repent of their sins and be saved. She moved a few times in and around the Tampa Bay area before settling in Riverview. She was a member of Cathedral of Faith Church, Inc. and she was also a member of Deeper Life Christian Center. While in Riverview, Pastor Taylor started having church in her home with some family and friends. After a few years she was able to secure a facility in the Temple Terrace, Nuccio area and "The Family Christian Center" received a new home. While there, she saw a need in the community and soon developed Ameliorating Communities, Inc., a non-profit organization was formed. Loving, Caring, Sharing, that was their motto, and she developed  this organization to help residents in the Nuccio area. She held community events, invited elected officials who represented the area, and all gathered for a day of fellowship, food, fun and support for the community. Pastor Taylor had several ministries that were close to her heart. Flo's International Bereavement Center (For Those Who Hurt) was a ministry to help those hurting from the loss of a loved one. Here you would find consultation, education, and healing for the bereaved and grief-stricken. Pastor Taylor felt no one should suffer alone so she helped loved ones remember those who passed with respect, love, and dignity. Pastor Taylor was also involved in was a prison ministry. She wrote letters to prisoners with life sentences encouraging them and reconnecting them with their loved ones. Many had not spoken or heard from their loved ones in years. Pastor Taylor was the bridge that helped mend those relationships. And without failing, she told them about her Lord and Savior. Many repented and were saved.

After having church out of her home for some years, Pastor Taylor was able to secure a facility in the Temple Terrace, Nuccio area and "The Family Christian Center" received a new home. While there, she operated a non-profit organization to help residents in the area. She held community events, invited elected officials who represented the area, and all gathered for a day of fellowship, food, fun and support for the community.

Lastly, Pastor Taylor's final ministry was her "Healing Scripture's Ministry." God instructed her to send letters to those who were sick and shut in. She wanted to encourage, uplift, and pray with them so they would find peace and rest. If she knew someone was sick, she wanted their
phone number and address. If you knew of someone who needed an encouraging word, she wanted their phone number and address. Each month those letters went into the mail. Always a devoted, caring, and praying mother and grandmother Pastor Taylor wanted her family to be saved. She never missed a football game, basketball game, graduation, and the births of all her great grandchildren in the Tampa Bay area, but most importantly she taught usall how to pray. Many days in her home she made us get on our knees and just call on the name of Jesus until we felt something. She leaves precious memories to her daughters, Ms. Angelia Brown of Ruskin, FL, Ms. Cornelia Washington of Wimauma, FL, and Mrs. Beryl Washington of Houston TX. Her niece, Ms. Felicia Burton of Boston, MA and great niece, Ms. Alexandria Burton of Brandon, FL, Her brother, Mr. Felson P. Washington of Fresno Ca, sister Mrs. Audrey D.
