Fay Edward Fouse was born on February 21, 1947, in Winchester, Indiana. He was welcomed by his parents, Reverend Fay Alonso Fouse and Sarah Pauline Fouse.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City, Indiana in 1965, and enrolled at Purdue University. He left college in 1967 to enlist in the army, volunteering to go to Vietnam, in his words, "so someone else might not have to go." Ed completed Airborne Training at Fort Benning earning his parachutist wings and served as a radio operator in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division from 1968 through 1969, obtaining the rank of Sergeant.
Following his Honorable Discharge in 1971, Ed enrolled at Indiana University, completing a Master’s in mathematics in 1976. After moving to Florida, he enrolled at the University of South Florida to pursue a Ph.D. Students loved his ability to make math relatable and useful in their daily lives. He believed in treating everyone with respect and dignity.
In 1979, he started his career as a Programmer, working with several companies until his retirement in 2020.
In 1980, he married Helen Brewer. They were married until Ed's death in 2026. They had a daughter, Sarah, in 1982 and a son, Alex in 1988.
His hobbies and interests were diverse. He enjoyed sailing, fishing, scuba diving, video games, watching Florida Gators sports, card games, model rockets, firearms, and his beloved Corvette. In 2026, Ed was thrilled to see his Indiana University Hoosiers go undefeated and win the National College Football Championship.
Ed passed peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children. Ed is survived by his wife, Helen Fouse (Brewer); his daughter, Sarah Corey; his son Alex Fouse; and his four grandchildren, Kylie, Damien, Samuel, and Brianna. Ed was preceded in death by his loving parents, Reverend Fay Alonso Fouse and Sarah Pauline Fouse. Florida. Ed will be honored on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 1:30 pm at the National Cemetery in Bushnell,
