Ellen Belle
Stanton
August 16, 1931 — July 25, 2018
Ellen Stanton, 86, was born August 16th, 1931 in Uniontown, PA. After an extended illness, she passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 25th, 2018. She was the youngest of 9 children of her deceased parents, Freeman Edward Johnson and Phoebe Johnson. She leaves behind a Sister, Betty Croce, Jeannette, PA, Daughter, Phoebe Cates (Wayne) Valrico, FL, Son, Edward Sleyzak (Tina) Brandon, FL, Son, Timothy Sleyzak, Sr. (Loraine) Lakeland, FL, 7 surviving Grandchildren, many Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Parents, 4 Brothers (James, George, William, & Robert), 3 Sisters (Mae Khatzis, Catherine Meyers, & Loretta Silman), 2 children (Johnnie Sleyzak & MaryAnn Smith), and 1 Grand-daughter (Karla Smith). Ellen worked at Ravenna Arsenal in Ohio, where she used to make ammunition for the Armed Forces, the Hillsborough County School system in the cafeteria, 7-Eleven, and Wal-Mart. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and was involved in The Columbiettes, The Lunch Bunch, and Hope is Contagious. She was an avid sports fan and never missed a Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Bucs, or Tampa Bay Lightning Game on TV. Just recently she caught a foul ball while attending a Rays home game. On her free time, she enjoyed BINGO, Bowling, and winning the toy claw machines at Walmart. Ellen was her name, but she was known to most, especially her Family, as Nanny. She had a passion for life and she lived her life to bring joy to others. She loved to spoil her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren whenever she could, not only with stuffed animals & clothes, but with many hugs and kisses. Everyone she met would instantly fall in love with her sweet, kind, and loving personality. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her and will never be forgotten.
