Elizabeth (Joy) D. Gopie's Obituary
Elizabeth (Joy) Doreen Gopie, 69, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Dr. Phillips Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Joy was born on August 26, 1949 in St. Andrew, Jamaica to Ivan and Mavis Francis; she was the third of eleven children. Joy worked as a phlebotomist with the American Red Cross and local Florida hospitals. She loved sewing, cooking and enjoyed capturing memories in photographs at local family events. Joy loved and adored her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She is survived by sons, Richard (Wayne) and Girvan and his wife, Andrea; daughter, Karen, and her husband, Ghanesh Maragh; grandchildren: Andrew, Jason, Alyssa, Vishal, Sajni; and great-granddaughter, Jaylynn. She is also survived by six brothers: David (Johnny), Ivan (Junior), Wilbert (Hopeton), Carlton, Aston and Collin; sisters: Valrie, Patricia and Christine; as well as five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Joy will also be deeply missed by her friends.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview, FL at
3:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow the service at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park.
