In Loving Memory of Eldon Alexander Stewart (“Barry”)

Eldon Alexander Stewart, lovingly known to family and friends as “Barry,” was a remarkable man whose intelligence, creativity, humor, and generosity touched countless lives. Born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, Barry possessed a rare combination of brilliance and humility. Largely self-taught, he developed an extraordinary ability to master whatever captured his interest, becoming skilled in countless trades, crafts, and talents throughout his life.

Barry was a gifted musician and accomplished guitarist whose love for music brought joy to many. In the 1970s, he recorded the song “Light From a Crystal Chandelier,” a source of pride that reflected both his artistic talent and determination. Whether making music, building something from scratch, repairing what others thought impossible to fix, or sharing stories that left everyone laughing, Barry approached life with curiosity, ingenuity, and heart.

As the youngest sibling in his family, Barry was deeply loved by his brothers and sisters and maintained close bonds with them throughout his life. He had a natural gift for connecting with people and could make friends wherever he went. His warmth, humor, and genuine kindness made him a cherished brother, uncle, friend, and confidant.

A devoted husband, Barry shared a loving marriage with his wife, Lucy Stewart, spanning decades. Together they built a family rooted in love, resilience, education, and opportunity. He was the proud father of four children and grandfather of four grandchildren, all of whom benefited from his wisdom, humor, and unwavering support.

As a father to Janelle, Karen, David and Christina, Barry was hands-on, imaginative, and deeply invested in his children’s growth. He taught them not only practical skills but also how to think creatively and solve problems. He made and flew kites from scratch, invented games to keep his children entertained, encouraged learning, and instilled the belief that education could open doors to endless possibilities. He had a gift for making ordinary moments feel magical.

Barry was also known as everyone’s favorite uncle, a trusted friend, a talented cook, and a generous provider. He was an exceptional storyteller whose tales could captivate a room, whether he was recounting memories from Jamaica, sharing life lessons, or simply making people laugh until their sides hurt. His quick wit and infectious sense of humor could brighten any gathering, and his stories will continue to be told for generations to come.

More than his accomplishments, Barry will be remembered for the love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on through his family, the lessons he taught, the music he created, the friendships he cherished, and the countless lives he impacted through his kindness, intelligence, and laughter.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lucy Stewart; his children and grandchildren; his loving siblings; extended family in Jamaica and abroad; and a community of friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.

Though deeply missed, his spirit remains present in every song, every shared story, every lesson passed down, and every memory that continues to bring smiles to those who loved him.
