Edwin Maley, 87, of Gibsonton, FL, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Sun City Center Hospice House in Ruskin. Born on December 29, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to the proud parents of Irving & Johanna (Markowitz) Maley, Edwin was a former owner & operator of a Judo Training Studio. He moved to the area in 1959, coming from Ludlow MA and attended the former Beth Israel Temple in Tampa, FL. Edwin was a member of USA Judo, the Black Belt Hall of Fame; was named Black Belt Instructor of the Year; received the Key to the City of Tampa from the Mayor and volunteered at various YMCA's in the Tampa Bay area.
Survivors include his beloved son Keith & his wife, Tina Maley of Gibsonton, FL; his brother, Dr. Frank Maley of Albany, NY; his three grandchildren: Heather & her husband, Adam, Brandi and Steffan along with a great-granddaughter, Avi Hope. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Tobey, who passed in 2017.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 11:00am at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park in Riverview, FL with Rabbi Jason Rosenberg officiating.
