IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward
Curiel
July 17, 1926 – October 29, 2022
In loving memory of our dear father, Edward (Eduardo) Curiel, who passed away peacefully in his home in Lithia, Florida on October 29, 2022 at age 96. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Victoria (Ochoa) Curiel, brother Leonardo Curiel, son David Curiel, and preemie infant twin daughters Marina and Mariana. He was the devoted husband of Alice (Rodriguez) Curiel, and loving father of Alice (Jesse) Castro, Charles Curiel, Lucy (Luis) Molina, Teresa (Armando) Wise, Roseanne Curiel, Edward Curiel, Jr., Richard Curiel, Christine (William) Walwik, Rita (Argelio) Lopez, Joseph (Kelly) Curiel, and Mary (Miguel) Curiel. He also leaves behind his brother Alejandro (late Angie) Curiel and sister Berenice (late Jesus) Valencia, 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.
He was a long-time resident of East Chicago, Indiana and retired from the Inland Steel Company where he received numerous awards for suggestions he submitted to improve company productivity. One of the most playful and kindest persons, our father was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He was a true role model for us. Most importantly, he was a man of strong faith and he taught us the importance of doing what is right.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, November 18 th at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street in East Chicago. Prior to the mass, there will be visitation in the church hall from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. After mass, burial of cremains will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, 4401 W. Ridge Rd., Gary.
Dad, we thank God for giving us this time with you. You are now in heaven but you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
