Nuestra querida 'Negrita' y amada Eduvigis Milagros Ovalles Santana, Nació el 30 de noviembre en la vibrante ciudad de Moca, República Dominicana. Ella llevó esa calidez y espíritu dominicano a donde quiera que iba.

Cualquiera que conociera a Mami podría decirte que tenía el corazón más increíble. Era puro amor y bondad, siempre lista para tender una mano amiga o escuchar a absolutamente cualquiera. Su risa era contagiosa, y vivía absolutamente para esos momentos preciosos pasados con familia y amigos. Honestamente, su mayor alegría era ver a los demás felices, y haría grandes esfuerzos para asegurarse de que todos a su alrededor estuvieran contentos.

Siempre la imaginaré sentada alegre y sonriente en su galería , disfrutando de su música favorita y saludando a cada vecino que pasaba. Era un ritual tan simple, pero capturaba perfectamente su espíritu – siempre conectada, siempre amigable, siempre irradiando calidez.

Ella fue una mujer extraordinaria de fe. Enfrentó los desafíos de la vida con tanto coraje y gracia, luchando verdaderamente la 'buena batalla' como una guerrera fuerte y valiente. Su confianza inquebrantable en Dios fue una inspiración para todos nosotros, mostrándonos lo que significa vivir con profundo amor y reverencia hacia Él. Encontramos tanta paz al saber que ahora está en Su amorosa presencia, envuelta en la plenitud de Jesús.

Llevó tantos hermosos sombreros en su vida – una maravillosa hija, hermana, esposa devota, madre amorosa, amiga querida, abuela cariñosa, bisabuela, suegra solidaria y vecina amada. En cada uno de esos roles, fue un ejemplo de una mujer verdaderamente virtuosa, dejando una huella indeleble en cada corazón que tocó.

Mamá compartió un increíble y fiel viaje con nuestro papá, Federico Antonio Portes, durante 47 maravillosos años, comenzando el 18 de marzo de 1974. La extrañamos profundamente, nosotros, sus hijos Iris, Joaquín, Johanna y Freddy, y su querido primer nieto, Ryan, a quien amó como a un hijo.

Aunque nuestros corazones están pesados, estamos celebrando su extraordinaria vida, confiando en las promesas de Dios. Él la llamó a casa para su descanso eterno y celestial el pasado 27 de marzo. A nuestra hermosa, fuerte y virtuosa Negrita – regocíjate en la presencia del Señor. Eres tan amada y nunca serás olvidada.

Our cherished 'Negrita' and beloved Eduvigis Milagros Ovalles Santana was born on November 30th in the vibrant city of Moca, Dominican Republic. She truly brought that Dominican warmth and spirit with her everywhere she went.

Anyone who knew Mami could tell you she had the most incredible heart. She was pure love and kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to absolutely anyone. Her laughter was infectious, and she absolutely lived for those precious moments spent with family and friends. Honestly, her greatest joy was seeing other people happy, and she'd go to great lengths to make sure everyone around her was smiling.

We will always picture her sitting peacefully on her porch, enjoying her favorite music, and waving to every neighbor who passed by. It was such a simple ritual, but it perfectly captured her spirit – always connected, always friendly, always radiating warmth.

She was an extraordinary woman of faith. She faced life's challenges with such courage and grace, truly fighting the 'good fight' as a strong, brave warrior. Her unwavering trust in God was an inspiration to us all, showing us what it means to live with deep love and reverence for Him. We find so much peace in knowing that she's now in His loving presence, enveloped in the fullness of Jesus.

She wore so many beautiful hats in her life – a wonderful daughter, sister, devoted wife, loving mother, cherished friend, doting grandmother, great-grandmother, supportive mother-in-law, and a beloved neighbor. In every single role, she was an example of a truly virtuous woman, leaving an indelible mark on every heart she touched.

Mom shared an incredible, faithful journey with our dad, Federico Antonio Portes, for 47 wonderful years, starting way back on March 18, 1974. She is deeply missed by us, her children Iris, Joaquín, Johanna, and Freddy, and her beloved first grandchild, Ryan, who she loved like a son.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are celebrating her extraordinary life, trusting in God's promises. He called her home to her eternal, heavenly rest this past March 27th. To our beautiful, strong, and virtuous Negrita – rejoice in the Lord's presence. You are so loved and will never be forgotten.
