Edmund Stanley Scott, age 93, of Riverview, Florida passed away
peacefully surrounded by family at his home on February 1, 2023.
Edmund was born on May 1, 1929 in Somerville, MA to the late
Stanley and Lillie Scott. Edmund grew up in the Pinehurst section of
Billerica with his brother, Howard, and sister, Joan. A proud graduate
of Howe High School class of 1947, Eddie continued on to join the
U.S Navy in October 1948 and was stationed at the U.S Navy Base in
Coronado, California. After returning to Massachusetts, Eddie worked
for the Boston and Maine Railroad in 1964. Edmund also worked as a
letter carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in
1991.
Edmund was a dedicated family man and will be survived by many
family members who loved him deeply. Edmund and his loving wife of
65 years, Shirley (Knapp) Scott had 4 children. Edmund's son Jeffrey
Scott and his wife Cynthia Scott of Cleburne, Texas. His daughter
Janice Grace and her husband Augusto Grace of Wimauma, Florida.
Daughter Jayne Flynn and her husband Michael Flynn of Derry, New
Hampshire. His youngest child, the late Jason Scott of Sanford, ME.
Edmund, or Papa, will also be survived by his many grandchildren who he spent countless hours with.
Jeffrey's family Mandi Messinger, Churi Scott, Jason and Melissa Scott, and Sarah and Jonathan
Ogasian. Janice's family Michael and Lauren Battcock and Tyler Battcock. Jayne's family Kevin and
Melissa Flynn and Cameron Flynn.
Edmund was also lucky enough to be called great-grandpapa to many great-grandchildren. Mandi's
children Jeffrey and Anna Messinger. Churi's child Adian Scott. Jason's children Anthony, Natalie, Kaylee,
and Lexie. Sarah's children Alyvia, Abigail, and Jonathan. Michael's children Michael, Benjamin, and
Sophie.
Edmund will also be survived by many extended family members of the late Joan and Bob Cook as well
as the late Howard and Paula Scott. His many nieces and nephews will also continue to remember
Edmund.
In Ed's spare time he had many hobbies and interests he will be remembered for. Eddie had a passion for
riding motorcycles, swimming, as well as a variety of other outdoor activities. He often enjoyed traveling to
watch Red Sox spring training games, seeing Navy beat Army in football, taking cruises, and playing
many rounds of golf with friends. He loved the time he spent in the community of Nalcrest in Lake Wales,
Florida where he met many lifelong friends. He also enjoyed spending time with many family pets, namely
his dog Cody.
We would like to extend an invitation to a celebration of life at Serenity Meadows Garden Funeral Home in Riverview, Florida on Friday February 17, 2023 from 10:00am until 12:00 noon. A
small gathering will also take place at Shirley and Edmunds home after the ceremony at 10705 Casa
Drive, Riverview, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations may also be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Tampa Bay
