Earl Newman (2/25/1931 - 5/1/2025)
Earl Newman, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2025, at the age of 94. Earl was born on February 25, 1931, to Bert and Fannie Newman in McDowell, Kentucky. He was of the Baptist faith. Earl met his future wife, Billie Jean Trimble, when they attended Mayo Vocational School. He received his degree in Auto Mechanics prior to entering the Army. He was stationed in Hawaii and served for two years. Earl and Billlie Jean married on February 25,1956, on Earl's 25th birthday. They moved to Mansfield, Ohio, in 1968 and later lived in Natchez, Mississippi; Owensboro, Kentucky; Daytona Beach, Florida; and Seffner, Florida. Their favorite family pastime throughout the years was houseboating.
Earl and Billie Jean were married for 68 years prior to her death on June 13, 2024. They went on many adventures together and were best friends. Earl is survived by his two children, Anita Mason and Greg (Carla) Newman; three grandchildren, Breinn (Mike) Buehner, Bryan (Lindsey) Newman, and Mara (Ben) Mann; and six great grandchildren, Samantha Buehner, Lincoln Mann, Finn Newman, McKinleigh Mann, Gabrielle Buehner, and Callie Newman. He is also survived by his brother Curt (Jan) Newman, his sister Violet Newman, and many nieces and nephews. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters (Veda Hamilton, Edna Brown, Mary Hamilton, and Maxie Hollon), and his son-in-law Edward Mason.
Earl loved to share his knowledge and to use his problem-solving skills to help family and friends. He could fix just about anything. He retired from Ashland Pipeline Company after working there for over 40 years. Throughout his life, Earl's hobbies were working on cars and boats. He also enjoyed following NASCAR and watching the races. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry for over 50 years. Their philanthropy is supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Earl was a dedicated family man and he will truly be missed.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025. There will be a gathering from 12:30-1:00pm for family and friends and the service will begin at 1:00pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL 33579. There will be no graveside service. A reception will follow at the Newman home after the service.
