Taylor, Duane, 59, of Riverview, FL passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Brandon Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. Duane was born March 6, 1953 in Richmond, VA. Duane is survived by his wife, Janice Taylor, of 24 years; son, Benjamin; daughter, Crystal; mother, Thyra North of Kingston, NY; father, Govan Taylor and his wife Eva, of Largo, FL; sister, Linda Legg and her husband, George, of Hurley, NY; sister, Lori Rider- Fenwick and her husband, Mike and their children, Rebecca and Billy of Rhinebeck, NY; and aunt, Brenda Fleming, and her husband Rudy, of Richmond, VA; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, Govan and Lillie Taylor; maternal grandparents, Clyde and Vera Dubois; and aunt, Janice Maher.
Duane was a devoted husband and father. He was a Superintendent at Tri-City Electric Company. He enjoyed his family, his relaxation was time spent on his computer. He also enjoyed roller skating, in his earlier years, which is how he met his wife. Duane spent 4 years in the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1976 followed by 2 years of Reserve duty. He was also a member of the American Legion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Valrico, FL. The Mass will be offered by a close friend, Rev. Fr. Raphael Iannone, of New Paltz, NY. Fr. Raphael also had the honor of performing the marriage for Duane and Janice on May 7, 1988. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the mass. Duane will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery.
