In Loving Memory
Dorothy "Janice" Flanders
July 15, 1935 – October 7, 2025
Dorothy "Janice" Flanders, 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 7, 2025. She was born on July 15, 1935, in Illinois, to Dorothy and Vincent Heinz. The second of three daughters, she grew up with her sisters Jean Masterson and Pat Homan, forming a lifelong bond filled with laughter, faith, and family traditions.
Following her graduation from high school, she began working at the local military post, where fate introduced her to a handsome young soldier named Robert Flanders. The two fell in love and were married on Valentine's Day, 1956, a day that perfectly reflected their love and devotion.
They raised four children: Ron, Kim, Loreta, and Robert, who were the center of her world. She was deeply passionate about her family, her faith, and her work. Later in life, driven by determination and curiosity, she attended night school and proudly earned her Bachelor's Degree.
Her professional life, which began in the 1950s, concluded at MacDill Air Force Base, where she brought her long and distinguished career to a close. She was a highly decorated and respected employee who truly loved her work. Her retirement came only when her husband's health began to fail, as she selflessly devoted herself to his care during his battle with Dementia and cancer.
Her faith was constant and active throughout her life. She served her church in many roles, from accounting to Eucharistic Minister, always guided by a spirit of service and humility.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Vincent Heinz; her sisters, Jean Masterson and Pat Homan; her beloved husband, Robert; and her daughter, Kim.
She is survived by her children, Ron(Wendy), Loreta (Michael), and Robert; and her grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Taylor, and Adam, who will forever cherish her love, guidance, and gentle spirit.
