Dorothy Adams, beloved mother of Gary Adams of Ft Mill, SC and Sandra Reed of Valrico, FL passed away peacefully, Monday, March 17, 2014. Dorothy was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband Walter, son Wayne, and brother William Sellen. She is survived by her brother, Clifford Sellen of Maryville, TN, two of her children, two grandsons and two great granddaughters of whom she was very proud. Dorothy was born and raised in Wenonah, south Jersey where she met her husband and started her family. Dorothy worked as a telephone operator during WWII where she kept track of Walter in the Philippines. In the late 50's, Dorothy and Walter moved their family to Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia, where they spent many wonderful years traveling the world while employed by Aramco. They moved to St Croix, USVI in 1966 where Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for several hotels in Christiansted, while Walter was employed by Hess Oil. In the 70's, they moved to Puerto Rico and then to Texas, and lived in Ingleside until 1997, when they moved to Riverview, FL to be closer to family. Dorothy lived with her daughter in Valrico after the death of her husband, and loved to make extended visits to see her son in Ft. Mill, SC. Her great granddaughters, Kira and Aubrey Reed, brought her much joy in the last few years of her failing health. She will be greatly missed. Her family is grateful for the loving care she received from the staff of Patti's House ALF in Dover. A graveside service will be held at a later date in New Jersey.
