Donnie Austin Hardaway, 74, born on July 22, 1951, peacefully passed away June 19, 2026. Preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Dempsey Hardaway, Donnie was blessed with a very large extended family and numerous relatives. Donnie is survived by his lifetime love Joan Spencer, her son TIm (Brenda and family), his daughter Grace and three great grandchildren; a sister Linda (Tommy), their children Susan (daughters Savannah and Caitlin), Brian (children Tristen (Lily) and Mackenzie).

Born, raised and schooled in Virginia, Donnie pursued a career in telecommunications, in civil engineering and became a master electrician. He was a master Mason and member of Henrico Union Masonic Lodge 130, in Richmond, Virginia. He fulfilled his dream of becoming a pilot.

Through work, he traveled to many areas, settling in Riverview, Florida. With an eager curiosity, Donnie was a leader, teacher and mentor. He excelled in golf, hunting, flying, electronics, and cooking. Donnie loved, and proudly promoted Tampa Indoor Flyers and was passionate about building planes of all sizes, organizing flying parks and events, and making many lasting friendships through the years.

Donnie was strong and courageous, and met every challenge presented to him. A true gentleman, with a loving heart and a smile, he loved God, family and was always helping others.

Donnie will be greatly missed by his family, his cherished neighbors, and friends.
