Donald M. Farmer Jr.

September 26, 1962 – October 20, 2024

On October 20, 2024, the world lost a truly remarkable man. Donald M. Farmer Jr. of Philadelphia, PA. passed away at the age of sixty-two after a lengthy illness. He was a dearly loved son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend. His legacy will never be forgotten.

Donald was born on September 26, 1962, in Abington, PA., the son of Donald Farmer Sr and Gloria (Antalek) Farmer. He grew into a creative, young man and graduated from Abington High Schol in 1981. He loved working with his friends on old cars and had a special love for Plymouth Barracudas. Additionally, he was a lifelong fan of the well-known basketball player, Dr J and followed him through life.

His dear friend Oliver (Ollie) and his wife Eula Wallace have walked with Don, supporting his journey in life since they were teens. Wherever Don's journey had taken him, Ollie was there with him. They were more than friends they were like brothers. Don's children grew up fondly calling him Uncle Ollie.

Don moved to Ft Myers, Florida in 1982 with his family and continued to collaborate with his father. He was a great asset to his dad in all aspects of the family business. It was not long before he met, and married Sabrina Starr (Freeman) Farmer and they welcomed two children into the family, Whitney Lorelle and Austin Taylor Farmer. Don was a loving and caring father. He was the ultimate videographer recording the children in all their family activities, including dance recitals, basketball games, vacation adventures, and graduations. He was always front and center capturing the best filming opportunities, smiling broadly, as he proudly said, "That's my daughter Whitney and my son Austin."

He, Sabrina, and the children moved to Brandon, FL and he continued his education receiving a degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design. Don began contracting with Architectural firms in the Tampa Bay area, then started the company ADS LASERCAD LLC. He developed advanced systems of completing on-site computer aided plans for government agencies and large corporations as they needed concise building plans for future development. Before long, the business flourished and expanded including contracts with Tampa International Airport and other large projects locally and regionally.

Don loved to barbecue and was a talented cook. Most weekends he and the family had an open invitation to stop by, get a bite to eat and fellowship for a while. He was creative and loved music, especially 70s and 80s sounds and frequently he was at a keyboard, playing at home or volunteering to DJ for friends at various functions. If there were ever any DYI renovations to do, he understood the vision and accomplished renovations under budget and on schedule. When he was a teenager, his grandmother Laura taught him gardening, he loved it and carried that knowledge through life. During his last years, he grew vegetable gardens at his home in Philly to share with all his neighbors. He was a mentor and came up alongside others regardless of their status in life. Don looked for ways to give a hand up, not simply a handout. He was a deep thinker with a kind heart.

Don was predeceased by his father, Donald Farmer Sr and two brothers, David, and Johnathan Farmer. He leaves behind his mother, Gloria Farmer; two sisters, Andrea Gardner and Samantha Farmer-Eguia; an aunt, Donna Williams; his former wife, Sabrina Protic (Jeffery); two children, Whitney Gonzalaz-Hartford (Brendan) and Austin Farmer as well as four grandchildren, Nalah Gonzalaz, Nevaeh, Baylee, and Brixton Hartford. Additionally, he had many cousins, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Don will be missed by those whose life he touched. They will forever be shaped by his love and the memories he created.
