In Loving Memory of Diane Baker Moffitt
Diane Baker Moffitt, beloved wife of Joseph W. Moffitt (deceased) and later life partner of Terry L. Rowett (deceased), peacefully departed from this world on April 18th, 2024, surrounded by her children. She was born January 30, 1942, in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania where she grew up with her large extended Polish family. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Baker and her mother, Victoria Dudrick Baker. She is survived by her sister, Jeanette Parisi, her three children, Frank Moffitt (Teri), Diane Perry and Joanna Bever (Jason) and eight grandchildren, Cory and Chris Moffitt, Jonathan, Hannah and Jacob Perry and Olivia, Luke, and Mae Bever. She is also survived by countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Diane was a beacon of love, faith, and wisdom, and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion. As a lifelong devoted Catholic, Diane found solace and strength in her faith, embracing its teachings of love, forgiveness, and humility. She had an active bible group that served not only as her inspiration but were her closest friends. Her fervent devotion to God illuminated her path and inspired all who knew her. She was a founding member of Saint Stephen Catholic Church and gave her time counting money for the church, organizing their annual tea to benefit the Society of St. Vincent de Paul as well as volunteering for countless other church activities and events.
Diane was not only a devout follower of her faith but also a dedicated educator, shaping the minds of countless students throughout her career. Her passion for teaching transcended the classroom, instilling in her students a thirst for knowledge and a deep-rooted respect for humanity. Diane always made herself available to tutor any of her students when they needed extra help. She taught at McLane Jr. High School and Rodgers Middle School for 30 years before retiring in 2005. She dedicated her life to serving others with unwavering compassion and grace.
As a mother, Diane epitomized unconditional love and selflessness. She poured her heart and soul into nurturing and guiding her children (which sometimes was a challenge), imparting invaluable life lessons, and leading by example. Diane was known for her boundless hospitality and her warm embrace of cherished traditions. Her home was a sanctuary where friends and family were always welcome, especially during holidays and special occasions. Whether it was gathering around the kitchen to bake her famous cookie recipes for Christmas or coming together for Friday night pizza making, Diane created unforgettable moments filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. Her generous spirit and love for tradition touched the hearts of all who crossed her path, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she held dear.
In her role as a grandmother, Diane found great joy and fulfillment. She was a devoted supporter of her grandchildren's endeavors. Whether it was cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines at sports games, beaming with pride at awards ceremonies, or applauding with joy at their concerts and performances, Diane was always there, wholeheartedly embracing every moment of their achievements. She also created cherished memories by making various crafts and desserts with them as well as showering them with affection while playing games and puzzles for hours on end. Her love will continue to resonate in their hearts forever.
Diane enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, playing dominoes with her bible friends and beach vacations with her family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her radiant smile, and her unwavering faith. Though she may no longer walk among us, her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to illuminate our lives and guide us through the darkest of times.
A funeral mass to celebrate Diane's life will be held on Friday, May 3rd at Saint Stephen Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at 10am and a funeral mass will immediately follow at 11am in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Stephen Catholic Church St. Vincent de Paul Society, a cause dear to her heart.
Though she may have left this world, Diane Moffitt will forever remain in our hearts, a shining example of love, faith, and compassion. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
